Letter to my MuM AnD DaD

Dear Selina

I really appreciated it when you came to camp to come and help with most probably everything especially when you gave up your time to come and help with our camp because we would of not had camp if non of our fabulous helpers came that is why I am very very gratefully and I also think you are really awesome and I also look to you like my hero and you are really really FUNNY!!!!!

My Highlight for camp was Swimarama because I liked to play with my friend Marven and it was this overtaking game when you have to power walk and get into the pool first. The other things that I also liked to do was to go and splash around in the pool and it was nice and cold

Camp T.C

I was so happy because I was going to camp to go and have a lot of fun. It was at Point England School. The group that I was in was the Partcipaters and there were 5 more other teams. Their teams were called Motivatorz, Carerz, Responsiblez, Thinkerz and the Respectablez. My leaders were Charm and Helen Tupou.

When Mr Burt said one of the groups will be missing out on the Kayaking activity, I was hoping it wasn’t my group because it was a very sunny day and I wanted to go for a swim after kayaking. So I was ecstatica when we ended up going down to the beach for kayaking.

Our first activity for the day was playing the indigenous games with Mr Harris. It was boring at the beginning but then it turned out to be quite fun in the end. The games that we played were native games to Australia and some of them were challenging to play. The game we played first was the game where we had to roll the ball over the line and then go and get it to win a point for your group. Then our next game was to throw the hacky sack on to the softball base. It was tricky as can be but only a few people were able to crack it. But I can not remember the rest of the games because I was extremely tired because I had late night packing my bag for camp. It looked like I was awake but on the inside I felt tired.

Then we went to the team building games, they sounded easy but they were hard. Our first game was the one when you had to stick the pole vertically and chuck the tyre over the vertical pole and it took quite a long time until our leader Charm just threw the tyre over the pole. Then Mr Barks asked if we could do it again and we did it in 6 seconds. Then we tried it one last time and we managed to get it over in 3 seconds which was the fastest time any one had done it in.

My dad was very generous and cooked us a hangi, he was the man! He cooked the hangi and it tasted delicious. If you don’t know what a hangi is it is an underground feast that you need to dig a massive hole and put the meat and veges into the hole (but it’s got to be covered in tin foil). Once you start burning the fire, it needs to be around 200 degrees heat before you put the baskets of food in the ground. Then you put the dirt back over the hole because it is very dangerous if it is left uncovered and unsupervised. My dad was on to it! He had the big boys help him dig the hole but my dad really liked Beni because he stayed there for the whole day preparing and cooking the hangi.

When we had dinner and the hangi meal was huge and it was so nice to eat. I ate it all up and it made me full for the rest of the camp. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!!!

Goals for this year

My goals for this year are to improve on my writing because I need to learn how to go back and re tell it (my story) in my head and fix it up to see if it makes sense. I have really improved on my reading I am reading higher than my age level. What I am learning to do is improve my spelling so that I will get brainy in class.

What I am looking forward to this year is camp because I like camp. I am looking forward to swimming, eating, sleeping and doing the activities.

earthquake

Yesterday there was a earthquake in Christchurch and it is pretty sad because it had a devastating effect on the people in Christchurch. The rating of the earthquake was 6.3, that is pretty big. But this is the second time that it hit Christchurch and this one was critical. I also hope that none of my family died in this thing. Lots of people died and many lived.

Holiday Highlights

My holiday was so so awesome because I went fishing and also I did water sports, plus diving. But my top two things in the world were diving and my all time favourite was the jet ski, because I liked falling off it. It was funny.
Then I had a go at holding the steering wheel on the boat and it was outstanding, but a little horifying at the same time. But then I got used to it.

Then we went back to shore to go and get our diving gear inside the car. We drove off to some beach and we went to an island and went diving around there, and it was fun. What we caught were some mussels, pipis, kina and some types of fish like snapper and some kawai. Later we went for a ride to Okahu Bay to go and watch the concert. We saw our cousins there and we went over and they hopped into the boat. Then we went for a ride around Rangitoto and it was alright. We dropped them off back at Okahu Bay and we went back to the beach for a little swim. When we went home, we all smelt like fish and we all stunk out the car. In the end I felt all smelly.

THE END.

Tamaki Tech

Woo hoo we are going to tech today! Year 7 and 8 students went down to Tamaki College to go and do technology classes. The things that we were doing where food tech, wood tech, science, art and electronics.

My first class was wood tech and it was pretty boring but then it turned out out to be cool. When we started we were learning how to draw 3-D pictures and I learnt how to draw a 3-D truck. It looked cool. Then we got out our pamphlets and we had to pick out our best five drawings. I picked out a dunking pool, a truck, a coffee machine, a boat and a car. Later we talked about the rules and I only remember one rule. The rule is don't walk around with a chisel in your hands. When we finished wood work we all walked back to school and then we had to write about it. In the end I felt bored...........
