Camp 2012

Not too long back, we just had our camp. It was really awesome. We done very difficult activities, like the flying fox, confidence course and our duties. The pupils that attend camp where from Pt England School. We stayed in a really quiet place called Ngaruawahia, at the christian youth camp (CYC).

When we arrived there, we gladly packed our packed our bags off the bus and went for a long as hike. It took us two hours and it was tiring. When we finished our hike we went to cabins and made our beds, well I did. Then we had to go back to our meeting spot and when we got there me and my friends where one of the last ones there and luckily we didn't get in trouble.

Taking a tour of the place, and pool table attracts to its wonderful sight. We charge towards it and say shotgun first, shotgun next and others playing table tennis. It was awesome.

Netbook reflection

I think that this year with our netbooks was very sublime. We had access to the internet, and we could research things which we couldn't understand properly. Over the year the internet connection has progressed very slowly. But with years still to come, the generation of the amazing netbook will excel. Then all the kids that started the generation of the netbook can say I started that and be proud of themselves.

This piece of technology that we use is very helpful. It help me learns a lot and its is a very educational tool

Gillan and the golden fleece

Once upon a time in a land older and more hysterical than the dinosaurs. Lived a man who had destroyed  all in his path. His name was Gillan, son of the five fathers. He traveled a lot with his trusty horse and his worthy gold sword that was plucked from the heavens.

One stormy cold day, GIllan had came upon a stalk which at the top lived a courageous hero. His name was jason the protector of the golden fleece. Gillan had heard a lot of mifs about the golden fleece. Then with no hesitation he climbs the stalk with all his might. On the way up he met a Tijah (half cheetah half tiger).  The Tijah asked what Gillan he was doing. He replied “i am on a quest to go find the golden fleece”. Then the Tija replied “ many courageous heroes have tried to seek for the golden fleece and ever since I can remember no one has ever returned”. Gillan stood staunchly and said “I am the most courageous hero in the world and nothing will stand in my way”. Then he stormed off. Climbing, climbing and climbing he finally reached the top. With a sigh of relief on his face, he tumbles to the ground weak as and rests for a while.


Waking up the next morning. He grabs his stuff and walks high upon the clouds. In the distance he can see a castle. As he gets closer to the castle, he sees to massive guards standing with sparked electric spears. Gillan thought to himself, how am I gonna get passed ? Then he thought of a sneak attack. Beside the castle was a huge rock but he had to find a distraction. He thought for quite a while then the idea came to him. He told his horse to go out into the open the horse went. The guards distracted by the horse Gillan ran behind the rock. Took a peak around the rock and then charged with his golden sword he jumped in the air and stabbed one guard and then roundhouse kick the other guard into the castle entrance and then struck him with a power stab and then fell dead.

He climbed up the fence and told his horse to stay behind the rock. He staged across the grass, destroying all people in his path. He climbed up the pavement and got to the point we he could go no higher. Searching and searching for the golden fleece a massive giant walks towards Gillan. Gillan stands like a true warrior, as the giant gets closer Gillan jumps at him and stabs him aggressively. Showing no fear the giant starts to go on a rampage Gillan sees the golden fleece in the giants hand. He jumped towards the giants hand and grabbed the fleece. He ran very quickly he jumped over the fence onto his horse and then he told the horse to go. With no mucking around the horse galloped away. The giant chased him, him and the horse jumped down the stalk. Thinking they were going to die the Tijah had grabbed them. WIth surprise the Tijah said “you received the golden fleece now what”? Then Gilan said “I will use the golden fleece to receive the head of medusa”. Then the Tija replied “you are one crazy man” THE END

Manaiakalani Film Festival

This term we had our Manaiakalani Film Festival. It was held at the biggest screen in the southern hemisphere. In the one the only Auckland which is placed in New Zealand in Sylvia Park. The screen is really massive and it is called the EXTREME SCREEN.

Hopping off the bus I walked with my mates to the movies. Walking in, the lights were fully on. Walking around trying to find our chairs me and my friend Matthew get as far away from the teacher as possible. The lights had dimmed,  it was dark, Mrs Lagitupu was trying to find us. She caught a glimpse of us I think and walked up the aisle that was in front of us and told us to go to the end and sit their. Me and Matthew dream shattered, but yea it was really fun.

My highlight of the film fest was the 1D (One Di film. It was really funny and good to watch. It was filled with enjoyment, laughter and fun. I really like the way they used different kids and adults in their movie. And I can't wait for next years one.

Athletics day

To my glory, and defeat, I proudly say that we had our annual athletics day. It was filled with agony, defeat, fails and determination. I had a really successful day, I came first in high jump, Second in 75 meter sprint, third in 100 meter sprints and 3rd in back knee throw. From my prospection of the day it was amazing.

My favourite event was high jump. Soaring over the high jump pole, I gladly get over and the game got more competitive. It was down to the top 2 me and Lepa. Lepa was first, he ran up slowly and built up speed, getting closer to the pole he rises his legs and jumps. He makes it. In my head i'm thinking “i’m not gonna make it” and then with a sudden burst of speed I take off and sadly i don't make it, twice in a row to be honest. My last attempt has come, I’m scared cause I think I can't make it. But then I make it, with all the strenght in my legs I force my self over, leaving my mate Lepa very shocked. Then it went up a level, I went first when I leaped over the pole I had made it and with relief I could say I did it. Lepa was up he was very scared knowing he wasn't going to make it first attempt he had failed, second attempt he had failed again third attempt he had also failed and it was a dream shatter for him he was gutted but happy that he had come second.

So I think athletics day was pretty awesome and I can't wait until next year because I will be in college.

My favourite toy

My favourite toy. I had many toys back in my old days. There were Ripsticks, Nerf guns and remote control vehicles. But my favorite toys of all time are Samurai swords and Guns.  I really like these toys because I can pretend I'm in a war and fight the air and everything around me. I liked to make my own armour out of cardboard boxes.

I really like the toy guns with the sound on it because it gets really annoying for people but for me it’s a lot fun. I had a lot of toys when I was a young lad and the toy that I still play with to this day is a rugby ball.My favourite toy. I had many toys back in my old days. I don't have a lot of memories with my toy guns and swords. But what I do remember is having fake fights with my brother and always winning. Then declaring “I am the best samurai in the world”. Then by unleashing one more slash of my sword I pretend to kill him. Then we live happily ever after.

Amulet of Whakatane

Lush green grass, trembling sticks and stones falling from the high mountains of Whakatane. Their lived a man and his beautiful wife. Their names were Jack and Jill. They stayed beside a waterfall, where lived very unusually creatures. When the sun had set and nightfall had come the place would light up with joy and happiness. The waterfall would shimmer and shine, the animals would come out and sing and dance and if lucky, a very beautiful dragon will rise from the depths of the forest, and breath its wonderful fire.

One day a wise man had knocked on Jack and Jills door. Jack came to the door very quickly to see who it was. Jack had open the door and said “hello” the wise man replied “are you Mr Jack stallone” Jack replied “yes sir”. Then the wise man had replied “I am here because you have been set for a quest”. Jack thought to himself, he said in his mind “is this fella crazy or is what hes saying true? Jack then said to the wise man “what is my quest”? He replied “you have to find the lost amulet of Whakatane”. Jack then thought this man is crazy. Then the wise man said here are your coordinates to find the lost amulet. Jack packed his stuff and the wise man said “I bestow upon you great health, great strength and great enlightenment”. Then with in the blink of an eye jack was gone.

For weeks and weeks he had been searching. Until he came upon a cave. Which had black marks on the walls. Without thinking he went straight in and there was the amulet. He run towards it but a massive dragon had jump in his way. He grabbed his massive samurai sword and chopped the dragon into pieces. He received the amulet and lived happily ever after. Until the wise man had came back.......

Mats the painter

Once upon a time there lived a man and his two wives. They had a son named Jack and a dog named Bill. One day Mats (the dad) had a job to complete. The job was to paint the outside of his house. When he was almost finished bill the dog had ran straight through his legs, and he got a shock. Mats dropped the paint roller, and all the paint on the paint roller fell onto his face. Really quickly he had squatted and took a dumpin the pant dish. In the side of Jacks eye he saw what happened and laughed happily and joyfully.

In the meantime the two wives Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were kicking back on the couch watching Expendables Two. Also they watched Terminator and Rambo. To their surprise they saw themselves on the movies. Arney started to talk and act like himself, and Sylvester put on his camo uniform and transformed into the great Rambo.

Term 3 highlights

This term there has been a lot of ups and downs. The most favourite thing this whole entire term was becoming a house leader for my solid group Tainui. We have had many sport events held around Auckland,like Rugby, Rugby League, two mini olympic days and many more.

first and foremost my favourite highlight of this term has to be me becoming a house captain. It was a very glorious moment. I got to lead my house Tainui in four events and they were our annual cross country day, two mini olympic days and also one of the biggest things this whole year for me.

We also had a really awesome night out at school. We had our own school social. It costed five dollars and let me tell you it was worth it. We had a lot of fun. That night was a night to remember we danced, sang, sat down and did a lot more stuff. There were some mad as dancers. My friend Nezinli came out and shined in the spotlight with his dougie. It was amazing!!!!

As you have read this term has been really awesome. I really can't wait for what surprises they have in store for us for next term.

Rugby!!!

Steps the lock, dummies the center, gases it down the sideline puts a kick overhead catches it fends the full back and try. Once again we had destroyed our opponents and we had won the semi-final. We were going to the most famous rugby stadium in the whole entire world Eden Park. But I wish thats how it played out. We had not one our game it was very very tragic. We had worked out buts off to try and defend the title for Point England School. But our mission was not succeed. We had......Wait a minute where's my manners.

Hi guys my names Toko. I come from a school with over seven hundred students. Called Pt England. We live in a well known area called Glen Innes. It’s a very awesome place to live in. If you go outside at five am and stay outside for a little bit. You can see the sunrise and it is very beautiful.

First half we were losing by a little bit. Half time came and we got into a semi circle. The coaches had talk to us and the things that they said were very inspirational. They lifted up our hearts and filled it with strength and power and we were ready.

We played with all our hearts and left all our pride and dignity on the field. We used all the strenght that was in us to push and drive them back. We were very close to the try line. Then my friend Tui had grabbed the rugby ball jumped over the ruck and scored a tremendous try. We were not far behind. But every time we scored they scored straight after.

Came to the last five minutes, we were in despair we had to score to go for golden point. But one guy named Dakota had ran through all of us and scored a last minute try and their I knew we had lost. He was just going for the last kick then the horn went then it was over. But in the end we had a really great day because after that we got to celebrate our victorious lost at the school social.         

What if I was a super hero???

Once upon a time there lived three courageous heroes. Bold-Axe was very mysterious but had an extraordinary power. Mysterion is the leader. He is a very wise young man who has a few powers. He can read minds, he is ultra tough and is also ultra fast. Then there’s me - Kill Buzz. When. I have a lot of powers just like that guy superman I can fly, i'm ultra tough, I can use plasmavision, I can freeze stuff with my icy breath and I can run fast. We are the most heroic heroes in the world. One day Batman and Robin had teamed up with the joker and tried to kill us. Because they were getting really jealous of us saving the day. But it was too late we had already killed them.

The most evil villain that we have tried to defeat is Devil Man. He is a very unknown villain he hides deep beneath our shadows and has powers beyond everything that ever lived. He drains the life out of those who come and battle him and gets defeated. The day was near we were about to fight the most evil person in the world Devil Man. I gathered all of the superheroes and I grabbed my boombox then we left. When we got to the front of the massive as gate we saw a big as name written on it saying Joe. Then beside the name Joe it showed Devil Man then we had realized that joe is the most powerful man in the world. Everybody was very scared but not me I turned up the Music really loud and I started dancing and singing. Then we walked in and to my shock I saw the past my family, my friends my loved ones and then it ended me and mysterion were sadly killed by our comrade bold axe. The End.
      

What if I was poor

WHAT IF I WAS POOR?????

Hello guys i’m a poor hara. I live with my 3 mates Shawn, Aidan and Matthew. One day I had tried to steal Matthew’s rugged box. But he had pushed me onto the road and I got hit by Shawn’s dad’s truck but I had survived, somehow. Anyway before we were poor we were billionaires. How we lost our fortune was very unpleasant. It was at a poker game Matthew had went all in and me and Aidan said “NOOOO” but it was too late and we had lost. We were so gutted in that very moment I had felt like destroying him. But I didn't because he would've pushed in front of a truck again.

We strolling down the street one day we had saw a bunch of hippies protesting for the whales. So we decide to go and beat them up. I saw my mate Aidan getting a hiding and then Matty got so angry that he thought he transformed into the incredible hulk but he didn't and I just stood there and laughed my guts out. Then I helped them out and we had won. Then after that we had gone our separate ways. We all got our fortunes back because we chipped in to buy a lotto and we won twenty million. We all had got five million dollars each I bought me a house and a suit. I
bought the suit to go and apply for a very awesome job as a butler. The very famous person that I was working for was JT(Johnathan Thurston).  

The Three Stooges

WHAT IF I WAS A BILLIONAIRE????????????

Sup guys my name’s Toko. I started up my own company and made millions, which is called Technicool Toko’s Skuxx Factory. I sponsor my very lethal team which I had played for. They are called the Northern QueensLand Cowboys. I live in a very huge mansion which is surrounded by Guard dogs, Ultra tough guys, Machine guns and I have even got the Expendables protecting me. Anyway my company had been a success until Matthew Timoko had destroyed my life’s work. But then I created a time machine and went back in time and became friends with him. We united our companies together, and together we were unstoppable. Until a little boy named Aidan came and destroyed our work and it was devastating.

One day Aidan had came into my underground lab and a snapped him but I did not do anything I waited for him to make his move. He went to my time machine and tried to use it he had pressed the self destruction button and tried everything I could to save him but it was too late. The very next day me and Aidan was in the hospital, and to my shock I saw Matthew having a heart attack, then Aidan had a heart attack so I thought it was game and joined in. Except it didn't work so I stabbed myself. Now a days people talk about us and call us the three stooges. LONG LIVE THE THREE STOOGES. THE END   

Cross Country

FIlled with excitement I gradually got ready for my house colour Tainui to dominate the course. If you didn’t already know am the house leader for Tainui. I was waiting eagerly on the hardcourt for my race to start. As I was getting ready I was thinking to myself saying what is my game plan and then I said to myself “just enjoy the race and have a lot of fun”, and that is exactly what I did. I also had set myself for a goal which I accomplished. The goal was to make it into the top 8 and got to the inter-zone cross country competition.

Friday the 17th of august was when it all happened. Earlier that morning I was selected house captain which was a glorious moment in assembly. Suddenly with no surprise Mr Burt (our principal) had told us to do a chant for our house colour.

Next we assembled on the hard court at exactly 12:30 to get ready for the big race. Without a chance to stretch, our race was just a heartbeat away. Then with an echoing voice I heard “can the thirteen year old boys please come to the starting line” and then I got really really anxious. I got to the line walking very slowly. My heart was beating like it was the end of the world. Then I heard “ready set” then Mr Burt banged the two wooden blocks together and off we went.

Around the first corner trying to keep up with front pack. I had stopped and waited for my cuzzy bro Shawn, Then I said “hurry up Shawn” and he did. As I entered the bush walk I lost sight of Shawn so I gave it my all and jogged. I came upon a really huge puddle which I decided to stay and jump in because it was fun and it also cooled me down.

Taking off my t-shirt with a lot of energy in me, I picked up the pace and used what was in me to catch up to the leaders. I failed but when I got to the forest part of the bush walk it got really lethal because I almost slipped off the cliff and fell in the water. Also I had hit a tree.

I ran past some of the Telecom helpers and they saw me with no t-shirt on and asked me “are you getting hot young man” and I replied “yes sir”. Then the man said “good luck” and I replied “thank-you”. We all had to do a turn when we got out of the bush walk and ran to the other side.

As I ran through the other side of the bush walk I saw my mates Joshua and Jephte. Jephte was the target to beat because he was in my age group but Joshua is twelve years old. So when Jephte saw me, he started to run because he didn't want me to beat him. I started to get tired and felt like giving up, but I was really determined to overcome the obstacle and so I strived to succeed.  

Shortly after, I came upon the last five hundred meters. I saw the other boys and counted them up. 1, 2, 3...5 and I realized my goal had been accomplished. So I ran very confidently and looked back and saw my friend Shawn. He had caught up to me very quickly so I decided to wait for him. As I waited I saw first second and third go past and they looked very eager to win. Anyway Shawn caught up to me and we jogged very lightly pass plenty of people. Then we got past the third cone and I had left him in the dust.

Coming around the last corner I put what I had left in me and gapped down the last one hundred meters. I felt really determined and also I was in agony but somehow I had survived and cross that line. Breathing raggedly I sigh with big relief and said ‘yay I am finished” and went to my flag and cheered on my friends.

 

The fastest man in the world Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt is a tremendous runner, as he stormed through the 100 meter race to win gold, and then again in the 200 meter sprint. When he lead the Jamaican team in the relay final he set another world record and it was a glorious victory. To me he is an inspiration. He is my idol. He is the champ of the world. Usain Bolt is a tall, muscular Jamaican man, who can run ultra fast.   

Jesse Owens was a successful black athlete just like Usain Bolt. Owens is an Olympic legend because he was the person that proved to Adolf Hitler that he was a champion. I think that Usain Bolt is a legend too because he is the fastest man in history.

Bolt is now one of the most famous humans in the world. He had broken a World Record at the age of 22 and that is astonishing. Bolt struck again this year and received another 3 gold medals which makes him the most decorated runner in history. For years to come, Usain bolt will not only be a champion, he will also be known as the fastest man that ever lived.  

Basketball

Basketball is a ten man game played around the world. It is a very complicated game as it involves tactics, speed, agility, ball skills and in Michael Jordan's case “AIR”. The sport is Basketball and we get taught by some professional trainers. Their names are Tai and Shae. We are taught in our school grounds at Pt England. Every week on a Thursday we attend basketball and we learn a lot of new skills like chest passing and doing a bounce pass.    

The most important skill in basketball is to dribble the ball because if you don't know how to dribble the ball you won't be able to play at all. But the skill that I am going to talk about are ball skills. Ball skills are very useful if you learn the correct skills to help you get around your opposition and score a point for your team. The chest pass is a pass when you use your legs to push your body forward to push the ball off your chest with a lot of power.

My class (room 21) haven’t played a proper game yet but we are getting to that stage. I really can't wait to try out the full game of basketball, because I think it will be a very challenging game.

I have only attended basketball once and it was very awesome. I learnt a lot during that one session and it was very cool.

Celebration Time

1.Shouting with enthusiasm, the women's soccer team cheer with happiness and excitement

2.The women’s soccer team win with one second to spare.

3.As quickly as they could the womens soccer team kick the ball quickly into the goal and win the Womens final.

4.With ease the women's soccer team had won the opening match.

5.The supporters roared with might when the ref had blown the whistle and the game was over, and the NZL team had won the final.

3.With a perfect position the Albanian man tries to use all his strength but the chinese is too strong.

4. As the lock wears them down, the wrestler attempts a takedown to survive in the match.

5.As the wrelsters strained with agony they were showing the viwers how letheal the sport is.

Olympics

The Olympics. It is a magnificent world wide sport that can be held anywhere around the world, and this year the 2012 Olympics will be held in London the capital of England. I really can't wait for the Olympics to start because I want to see the ceremony and it is gonna be huge.

In the past Olympics, women were not allowed to compete in the Olympics. The reason why they could not compete was because men didn't think women were as capable as them. Until a woman had proved them worthy enough to contest in the Olympics.

There are a lot of competitive athletes competing this year, and my favourite is Mahe Drysdale. Because he is a NZL athlete who is participating in the rowing event. In the previous Olympics Mahe Drysdale had won a bronze medal. But I think he has trained very hard and is going to come first.  Also I like the world's fastest man Usain Bolt because he has inspired me to become a faster and fitter athlete and to make it to our Auckland champs for running.

I really hope this year NZL will bring back a lot of gold medals in every sport. When I grow up I want to be like the athletes that I look up to.

Math Whizz

Joshua Losefa

Joshua Losefa is a year 13 student prefect at Mt Roskill Collage. He had wrote a poem and yes i did like this poem because he related to my culture and it was very inspiring. I like the way he said that you can't change your colour but you can change your mind to become a better person.

My Awesome Holiday

This holiday was very awesome. We did a lot of fun things like played sport, learnt how to construct my very own garden and also hang out with my friends. During the very first week of the holidays I went to my Nana's house in Glenn Innes to go and have a hangi(A Maori feast) . There was not that much people there and that was very cool because there was going to be more for me to eat. I really enjoyed it there because I had saw my papa and uncle and I hadn't seen them in a very long time. But my aunty was not there because she was at the Auckland hospital due to some unpleasant news. I was really sad when I heard what happened and I really hope that she will get better soon. Anyway my papa asked me to go put on his gumboots, to go and help my uncles pull up the hangi. So I put on his gumboots and went over and I grabbed a shovel and I just stood there because I didn't know what to do. Then my papa told me to put down the shovel and pick up all the hot burning rags and chuck them on to the fence to cool down. I was really scared because you could see the hot air rising out of the hangi. Then when I grabbed it I dropped it straight away because it was hot. When everything cooled down I grabbed all of the rags chuck them on the fence. I was really eager to finish so I could run my hands underneath some cold fresh water. But it was really worth it. The food was awesome and in the end I felt happy.

My Special Place

My special place is the breeze. The reason why the breeze is special is because it is always warm there and never cold. Also it is the place where I meet my friends in the morning because they always walk by. Plus it is a great place to play cards and sit down on the seats when you are tired. 
The artist that I am copying is Henri Matisse because he uses a lot of bright and vibrant colours that make the painting stand out. Also it makes the painting look alive.  I also like the name of his painting style, which is called ‘Fauvism’ In English it means ‘Wild Beast’. It took me a very long time to accomplish my task and in the end I finished. I really love my artwork. I put a lot of effort into it to make it what it looks like now.

Term 2 Reflection

This Term has been really awesome because we had a lot of exciting things going on like P.E.P.A (Pt England Performing Arts), Sports and a lot of educationally days. I participated in all these events and they were all really awesome and my favourite was P.E.P.A. I really liked P.E.P.A because we performed in front of a huge crowd and it was very awesome and exciting.

This Term was filled with a lot of practicing and it was not fun I really wanted to get in class and hang out with my friends. In P.E.P.A I had a really awesome role I was a rapper and also i opened the performance with a awesome haka.  

When we were performing  i couldn't see anyone because of the light was shining right in my eyes and it wa sore.  The rap that me and my rap crew did was Juicy from Biggie Smalls.  There were two other groups and the raps that they were doing was Go Hard By Ty Tyler and J Williams and Eminem and the song is called lose yourself, and we were called project rap.

Well I have some doubts about this term and some ups but all together it was an awesome term

The Incredible Hulk

Once Upon a time a beast was awaken from the undead and his name was Hulk.  He would crush anything that came in his way.  He was put down because whenever he got angry he would cause a lot of destruction.  But he had one weakness and it was the girl of his dreams and her name was Rose. Whenever he saw her he would calm down. But then the army would come out of the blue and start to shoot him. Whenever the love of his life was almost shot at he would do everything he could to protect her. He could not control himself when he was in hulk form. He was a monster.

Anyway the army had thought that they had brought him down but he was staying undercover in a land far far away in a desert that had no name.  He lived in a cave with a lot of plants.  He really liked nature because it didn't make him angry it just made him calm down.  

2 years later the army found the desert that had no name and tracked a human life form and it was Dr Bruce Banner (the Hulk).  When they found Mr Banner general Hoffman had realised the face and told them to shoot.  Dr Banner weaved through the plants climbed his ladder and evaded the bullets then he tripped on a rock.  And he got angry.  He turned in to hulk and smashed through the rock wall to escape but it was an ambush.  There were tanks, army trucks, air force and machine gun helicopters they had everything their.  But the Hulk ran and smash everything in his way but then the army retreated and the Hulk roared and the army dropped a tactical nuke and the hulk was weak and fell and no ones what happened then. Was he alive we dont no that was he dead????

Once upon a time there lived a lovely girl named Peach and her handsome brother Jake.  They were not that wealthy and there was not much much to eat.  They were twin brother and sister and was born 1482 on the 25th of December.  They had not lived a really good life they hardly ever saw their dad because he was trying to get money for them so they could stay healthy and fit  .  Anyway their mum came back with some sad news and told them that their dad had passed away.  He was a very brave soldier. He had defeated the evil queen of magic.

So one day their mum had brought a book back from the library and it was not an ordinary book it was a magical book.  Whoever had the book on the full moon will be sucked into the book and will not come out forever.  But there is only one way to get out and you have to get the key out the kingdom of death.  

The full moon came and they still had the book, they got sucked in like a very a fierce Tornado. As they went in they could hear their dad talking to them. Then his spirit popped up and the kids were frightened but then the dad told them to don't be scared stay strong i'll be here with you until it’s over.  Then they reached the ground and their dads spirit had left.  They came upon a door and they peeped in and saw something that know one had ever seen.  And know one knew about.

Taonga Time

Every week we do a really fun thing on friday and it is called Taonga Time.  We have just started our Taonga Time. This is the first one I have did this year and it is really Awesome.  The group that I am in is with the teacher Mr Harris and we are learning about the weather.  Last year we did Taonga Time and it was really cool but I think this year will be better.

Taonga Time means special time.  Every yr 7&8 participates in Taonga time.  But we all go to different activities.  We all do Taonga Time at Pt England School but one class goes to Tamaki College to go and do some PE (Physical Education).  We do Taonga time every friday and every term we switch to different classes.

We are learning how to use weather observations.  So we have to look outside everyday and try figure out the temperature and also tell which way the wind is coming from.  I can't wait to go back and learn a lot my stuff about the weather because it is very intresting and educational.

Tamaki Tech

Every Thursday I go to Technology with my mates and we learn a lot of different things. Like speaking different languages, cooking and hard materials.  We learn a lot of intresting things at technology like to cook really delicious food make a lot of interesting objects like little trucks and bird houses.

This term I am in woodwork and it is very cool because we are building a box that we can either put our money or jewelry into. Or just make it into a normal box.  Our teacher is really strict and his name is Mr Grundy.  When someone talks he always tries to just get our attention.  

What I am making is a secret drawer so I can hide my valuable things in it.  I think what I am making is going to be really fun because we get to use a lot of building tools like hammers, chisels and a lot of other interesting tools.  I really like woodwork, it is a very very awesome thing to do, you learn a lot really good things.     

Comparing and Contrasting

 We have a very easy task assigned by our teacher. The task is to compare two famous paintings by the famous artists Henry Matisse and Vincent Van Gogh. The paintings we are comparing are Henri Matisse 'Sunflowers' and Van Goghs 'La Musique'. Vincent Van Gogh and Henri Matisse were both talented artists who had different styles of painting. Henri Matisse has a painting style that is called Fauvism and Vincent Van Goghs painting style is Expressionist painting.

To me, 'Sunflowers' is a very dead painting because it looks like there is no life in it. When I see it, it makes me feel sad. The painting makes me feel sad because it has no bright colours, its just dark shady colours. Its sort of like a dead plant but it is still alive. I think that this painting is about his life on when he was in distress about the things that were happening to him. However he did get really famous because his sister in law told people to buy his paintings. People started to buy his paintings and that is how he became a very famous artist.

'La Musique' is a very interesting painting. It has a lot of bright colours, shapes, and lines.  I think that this painting is telling people that they were having a really great time singing, celebrating or learning a really great song on the guitar.  Henri Matisse believed that colours had healing powers so when his friend was sick Matisse drew a lot of paintings with very bright colours to help his friend heal from his wounds.

There are'nt a lot of things that I can compare with Henri Matisse and Van Gogh.  But I think that what they both have in common are really great paintings. Also what I think they have in common are when I look at some of their paintings it make me express my feelings. The things different between Matisse and Van Gogh are there life styles.  Henri Matisse had a really good life on the other hand Vincent Van Gogh had a really bad life and some of his paintings represent his life.


 

My Holiday

My holiday was awesome because we did a lot of work in our backyard and it is huge.  It is about 27 meters long and our grass was about 1m long.  My brother and my dad and I were making our backyard look clean. It took us three whole days to make it perfect.  

What we had to do was use the weed eater on the grass, then rake it into a bag and when the bag was full of grass, we dumped it in our garden because the grass is good for the soil.  My dad and I also did the lawn mowing.The responsibility that I took was raking the grass.  My brother put the grass into the bag and we would take turns dumping it.

It took us about half a day to one full day. The next day we did a quarter and on the last day we did the rest of the grass.  I really liked raking the grass because I had something to do during the holidays it was really awesome.

The best thing of all was at the end because we got paid.   

The amazing race

During camp we had to complete a very complicated game and that game was called the amazing race and for sure it was amazing. We had to collect a variety of things we had to collect wood, a really big tin, a wood chip and an egg. We had to get all of these items from different places we got them from places like the local swimming our public beach and our nearby Bakery. All these items that we collected was to make a hobo stove and it was awesome.

Camp Concert

Camp concert was amazing because we came 2nd and it was a miracle. I didn't really think we would come 2nd or 3rd. I thought we were going to come 4th but I was wrong. Anyway there were 6 groups and my group was called the Respectronics. We were the 3rd group to perform. I was really really nervous but when I performed my nerves went away.

The name of the 6 groups were Respectors, Team Respect, Respect crew, Respectronics, Respectables and the Respect Squad. Now what is funny to me is that all groups have the word respect in it. My group the Respectors did the songs 'Pump It' by 'Black Eyed Peas' and 'Clumsy' by an unknown artist.

The display of the concert was okay but it could have been better. We could of added lights, and a little bit more colour to make it fun and enjoyable. The atomsphere of the concert was nerve-racking beceause there were quite a few people there to watch us and I bet some of the kids where getting scared and some nervous and others confident but what I was saying in my head was that when we go on it is finshed.

Camp

The last day of camp was a blast because of the one and only Vodafone Warriors. But before that there was more. On Wednesday 14th March my school Pt England went to Swimarama Pools and it was awesome. We went there for our camp and I thought that when we were going to Swimarama it was going to be raining but it was a hot and dreadful day.

When we got there we saw the massive hydra-slide tall fences and finale the entrance. When we came upon the entrance we walked straight in and the first group to sit down in there two lines was the first group to go on the Hydro-slide but I really didn't want to go on the hydra-slide because it was dark and sore when you go down.

I got in to my line and our team leader Mrs Nua was telling us rules and other things like that. Then we started swimming. I didn't want to go for a swim because it was cold. But later on I jumped in and played with my friends and it was fun. The best game that I liked was NFL because adults were playing and they where really good.

All of a sudden when I caught the ball you could hear “Warriors Warriors” getting louder and louder because the warriors where at the Panmure Pools in the lanes, training and it was EPIC!!!!!!!!! We saw Shaun Johnson, Maun, Simon Mannering and many more. Heaps of kids at camp started to do the haka then I joined in and did the haka then the watched us do it and Manu bowed to us and it was awesome

waking up from a magical dream I suddenly realized that that day was going to be a very winning day because that was the day My team mates and I represented my school Point England in the 2012 softball tournament.

I was all sicked because we where going to our fellow rivals (Tamaki Intermediate) to play a huge softball tournament. Other school in the area were coming to play as well. My team would accepted any challenge even if the New York Yankes asked we would say “bring it on”
because that's how good we think we are .

I was wondering how are we going to get down there until i asked my friend and he said “we are walking” then I just dropped because I just had come from we were going but then I got over it then we moved out.

In my team Was Joe the big hitter , Matthew T the skill, Joseph the big boy Havea the strenght, Matthew R the brains, De’vyne the speed
aidan the learner, lepa the looks, Cruz the catcher and me well Im just a normal.


The very first game we played was against some Intermediate and we won 12 to 7. The next game we played was against Saint Heliers and that was a easy game to and the score 10-2. After that we played Ellerslie and they were tough match beat us by 1 and the final score was 4-5. The last game to see if we make it in to the semi finals was against Slyvia Park and the alright but we won. Once we finished our last game we went to go sit down and waited anxiously for the call to see if we where in the semi and then I heard we have made it and I was saying in my head repeatedly yeah.

Then we played our semi final and we lost 9-11 to chuchill but the game was very intense because we were all hitting home runs because the ball will connect with the ball and it would go far as. But the very last game we lost as well I didn't really care all the boys where tired and sleepy so we just did what could but in the end we lost but we still had a great time and in the end I felt Great :)

Every week on Thursday we have Netball sessions with Liz our instructor. She teaches new skills and techniques all the time when we go there. We train hard at Pt England School to try and learn as much as we can so we can use the skills in other sports like rugby, basketball and other sports.

Ever since the second week of school we have been playing netball and it has been exceptional. I have been learning lots of new skills like placing my feet correctly and intercepting the ball. But the one that I really like is shooting because it is simple and easy to do.

Before we start training half of our class need bibs and the others have no bibs. But before we do anything else we had to stand on the noughts and crosses. After that we split in to different teams of 4-6. Then we started our drills.

The very first skill we learnt was chest passing and it was easy. At the end of every session we always have a game and the game that we played was netball tag and it was very fun because I was getting heaps of people out.

The 6th of February is a day that the Maori will never forget because that day was the day the Maori and European signed the Treaty Waitangi.

The main people who signed the treaty were William Hobson, James Busby, Hone Heke, Henry Williams and Tamati Waka Nene . It was signed in Waitangi in the Bay of Islands in the North Island. The purpose of the treaty was to make peace and stop the conflicts between the Maori and Europeans. The Europeans wanted the Maoris to have a government to protect the missionaries and the Maori.

The Treaty was about the 3 p’s. 3 p’s are Protection Partnership and participation. The first P that I am going to talk about is Protection protection means protecting the land and the things and people that live their. (Partnership) Partnership is to have great relationship's between the Maori and the European. Participation is the last p. The Maori and the Europeans participated together to make a new home and make it a new place.

In our school Pt England we have the 3p’s and they are the same as the treaty of Waitangi. But they are set differently. Protection is to protect the little ones care for them. Partnership is to have really great bonds with friends and let them play with you if they ask. Finally Participation to participate in activity's and with buddies during work.
